Drabble: Name-Dropping

Title: Name-Dropping

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Ianto, Jack

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 288, Week 2 – Reverse fandom – Last of the Summer Wine at tw100

Spoilers: Nada.

Summary: Jack and Ianto tell each other about famous people they’ve ‘met’.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: Title used is The Man Who Nearly Knew Pavarotti.

Browsing his record collection one evening for something to play, Jack turned to Ianto.

“Did I ever tell you I knew Pavarotti?”

“Really? What was he like?”

“Well, I didn’t really know him as such, but I met him. Once. In passing. Okay, I nearly bumped into him outside a restaurant in London.”

“Ah.” Ianto smiled. “So you knew Pavarotti the way I know Charlotte Church.”

Jack looked intrigued.

“Saw her once from behind when she was opening a summer fair. Could’ve reached out and touched her but a crowd was in the way.”

Jack laughed.

“Yeah. Exactly like that.”

The End

Comments

See I was going to use this and write one about Jack actually uh, knowing him. But I just couldn't, LOL.
I had to try this one from several angles before I finally got something workable, but the title was just irresistible so I kept trying.

Thank you!
***giggles*** Loved it!!!
Love you, my friend!!!
Hugs and kissitos!!!
*hugs and kissitos back* Hope you're not working yourself too hard!

Thank you, glad you liked it!
Cute. Thanks for the morning smile
Thank you, happy I could give you a smile!
I almost thought Jack would say he did something inappropriate with him LOL.

Great drabble.
It crossed my mind briefly, but that wouldn't haver fit the prompt so for once Jack was completely innocent, lol!

Thank you!
hahahah for once, an honest answer from the eternal flirt!
lovely!
It suddenly occurred to Jack that he didn't need to try to impress Ianto - he could just tell him the truth!

Thank you!
Yeah Jack. Ianto is not impressed with the crazy stories.

Heh heh.
Lol! And Jack is finally realising that it's not necessary to try to impress Ianto, he loves Jack anyway.

Thank you!
Hahahaha I love that Ianto called him on one of his stories... and Ianto's example is priceless.
Haven't we all had these almost-brushes with famous people? *g*

Jack is finally realising that he can tell the complete truth and Ianto won't think any less of him.

Thank you!
Hee, Ianto got the real story this time! ;)
Yep! Jack's finally twigged that he doesn't need to try to impress Ianto, because Ianto loves him anyway. He can just be honest and hasve a laugh =)

Thank you!
Hehe brilliant.
I love Ianto's answer, and the fact that Jack has finally realised he doesn't need to try to impress Ianto.
Exactly! He launches into one of his stories and then for once tells the unvarnished truth, and Ianto doesn't think any less of him because he's nearly but not quite met someone famous too.

Thank you =)
So very Jack and I love Ianto's reply.
K
xx
Thank you! Jack's given up trying to impress Ianto now he's realised he can tell the truth and Ianto will still love him.

Made me smile!
Smiling is good!

Thank you!
Awww, how sweet. I like that Jack didn't have a big incredible story for a change. <3<3

You are really on a roll with these "Summer Wine" prompts!
Thank you!

Yeah, I figure there must be far more times when Jack ALMOST met someone famous than there are where he DID meet them, and with Ianto, Jack doesn't feel the need to embellish.

Oh boy, am I! It's a mixed blessing - Yay, I'm writing lots; Oh Noes, how do I post them all? I have 10 this week... *hides under bed*
TEN! LOL, that's amazing! You've really found your calling! Just post away--we're loving them. :)
Hopefully posting the final two today before starting to write some for the final week. I've written 25 for this challenge so far - 6 more and I will have done one for each day of July!
Nice to know that are still some people who have not been graced by Jack's power of 'hello', lol.
LOL! Yes, Pavarotti never had that dubious pleasure and I'm sure there are others too!

Thank you!
