FAKE Double Drabble: Suspicious

Title: Suspicious
Author: badly_knitted
Characters: Dee, Ryo, Bikky, John Hale.
Rating: PG
Setting: Vol. 4, Act 11.
Summary: Something suspicious is going on, and Dee intends to get to the bottom of it.
Written Using: The dw100 prompt ‘Bonfire / Gunpowder’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: This one’s a double drabble.

The flowers Bikky brought home for Ryo from his new teacher were beautiful, and Ryo was obviously pleased, but Dee wasn’t so willing to take them at face value. Why would a man they’d only met once want to send Ryo flowers anyway? Flowers were usually either an apology or a courtship gift. Did that mean Hale was trying to get into his partner’s pants too? Bad enough Commissioner Rose had a thing for Ryo; the last thing Dee needed was even more competition, especially from someone Bikky seemed to like.

There was something off about these flowers anyway. As pretty and colorful as they looked, they smelled wrong. Of course, he could be imagining it, but… He thrust them at Ryo. “Smell this, will ya?”

Ryo took a good sniff, a frown creasing his forehead. Looked like Dee wasn’t imagining things. “That’s the smell of gunpowder.”

“Uh huh!” Dee agreed. Hale definitely merited a background check, at the very least. It could just be a coincidence, he might not be connected to the bombing of the precinct at all, but Dee knew he wouldn’t be happy until he knew for sure. Could be they’d just caught their first lead.

The End

Ryo was too oblivious to anyone's courtship attempts, even Dee's at first. Ha ha!
True, and John Hale wasn't courting him anyway. I think he wanted Dee and Ryo to get blown up along with the school to punish the Chief.

Thank you!
Sending a cop flowers that smell like gunpowder doesn't seem like a smart life choice.
I think it was intended to lure one of them to the school so there'd be a cop killed. John Hale wasn't playing with a full desk though, he just wanted to hurt the chief.

Thank you!
