Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.

Dee was growing accustomed to the way Ryo liked to change things around in his apartment, knowing that his partner was still trying to get his living space exactly how he wanted it, but this latest addition baffled him.

“Ryo? Why d’you have all those weeds on your windowsill?

Amused by the confused expression on Dee’s face, Ryo snickered. “They’re not weeds, Dee; they’re my herb garden. I thought if I grew my own, then whenever I wanted fresh herbs for something I wouldn’t have to go to the shops and buy a big bunch when all I really needed were a few leaves. I’ve got mint, basil, chives, marjoram, thyme, coriander, sage, and parsley, and the best part is I can be sure they’re all grown organically rather than being smothered in pesticides.”

“Huh. Weird.” Dee still looked puzzled.

“Remember the little green bits in my cooking? Those are herbs, added for extra flavour.”

Dee turned a withering look on Ryo. “I know that, dumbass. I just always associate herbs with those little jars of dried leaves you can buy at the supermarket.”

Ryo shrugged. “Dried herbs have their place, but sometimes fresh is the only way to go.”

The End

Dee should know all about getting fresh. Heh.
*giggles* Good point!

Thank you!
Fresh herbs are the best. I bet Dee is going to notice the difference once Ryo starts cooking with them.
I'll bet! Some things might be better with dried herbs, but fresh is so much more versatile.

Thank you!
