FAKE Double Drabble: Rocking The King
Title: Rocking The King
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Ryo, JJ, Ted, Drake, Dee.
Rating: PG
Setting: Shortly before Vol. 7.
Summary: Ryo’s not into karaoke, but Dee’s performance is well worth witnessing.
Written Using: The dw100 prompt ‘Elvis Presley’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: This one’s a double drabble.
Karaoke night at McGinty’s was not for the faint-hearted. Between JJ warbling selections from Lady Gaga’s songbook, Ted’s tone deaf renditions of Tom Petty classics, and a more than slightly drunk Drake singing Beatles songs because they were the only ones he knew most of the words to, the cacophony was enough to give anyone a splitting headache. And that was just from the detectives of the Serious Crimes Squad. Some of the guys from other departments were even worse.
That was why Ryo preferred to avoid the bar on the first Tuesday of the month, but somehow Dee had dragged him along this time despite his protests, claiming after the day they’d had they could both use a stiff drink. He wasn’t wrong, but that was how many drinks ago now? More than Ryo should have had, that was for sure, but not enough to convince him to get up on stage and sing. Not even on a bet.
Dee though… Ryo couldn’t take his eyes off his partner, and neither could the handful of women in the bar. He’d known Dee could sing, but the Elvis Presley impersonation was unexpected. Still, Dee definitely had the hips for it!
