Actions have consequences. There was a time, before his dad was killed, when Bikky figured if he was sneaky enough, he could get away with just about anything, but now he knows better.
He still gets away with some stuff, little things that Ryo doesn’t find out about, like Bikky raiding the cookie jar at three in the morning because growing boys get hungry at the weirdest times, but bigger stuff…
Ryo seems like he’s not quite with it a lot of the time, but he doesn’t miss much, especially not when it comes to Bikky. Sometimes, Bikky would almost swear Ryo can read his mind; maybe that’s a parent thing. He vaguely remembers his mom being like that too, though his dad was always much less strict.
So, Bikky’s in trouble again. He ‘borrowed’ Ryo’s police stun gun, which he really shouldn’t have, because Ryo might have needed it at work, but it was a good thing he did. Maybe if he explains to his foster father that he fought off a bear with it, Ryo will go easy on him. Then again, mentioning that he and Carol had gone wandering off into the woods on their own might make things even worse.
Nah, he’ll take being grounded for a week over the possible alternatives. Bikky knows Ryo only gets mad because he worries, but he can’t worry over something he doesn’t know about, so surely it’s best for everyone if Bikky keeps quiet about that part. Isn’t it?
The End
