A/N: Double drabble.
Every once in a while it hits Dee just how lucky he is, and has been his entire life; must be somebody watching over him. Think about it; first he gets dumped in an alley, a defenceless newborn, but before any harm can come to him, he’s found by a cop and taken to Mother Lane’s orphanage.
Then years later, even though the Mob guys responsible for Jess’s death know who Dee is and where he lives, they never make a move against him.
He’s accepted into the police academy, graduates in the top ten percent of his class, rises quickly though the ranks to become one of the youngest detectives in the city, survives certain death more times than he can count, including being shot through the leg and locked inside a building rigged to explode…
If all that isn’t proof of his charmed life, he’s found and won his soul mate, and here they are living their happy ever after in an apartment twice the size most honest cops could ever afford and at a bargain basement rent which, shared between the two of them, means they’re sitting pretty.
Yep, he’s one lucky SOB, no doubt about it.
