Double Drabble: Noticing

Title: Noticing
Author: badly_knitted

Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 501: Notice at tw100.

Summary: Owen surprises Tosh.

A/N: Double drabble.

Arriving at the Hub later than usual, Tosh hurried to her workstation and turned her computers on. A few feet away at his own desk, Owen glanced up. “What happened, you oversleep?” he asked, then… “Did you do something to your hair? It looks really nice.”

Tosh had indeed just got her hair cut and styled; it had been getting too long, which could be a nuisance when you worked for Torchwood, and anyway the alien gunk that had got into it the previous evening had set solid, welding the ends on one side into a solid clump that wouldn’t wash out. Her only option had been to cut off the affected section, and she’d decided getting it done professionally was probably a better idea than trying to do it herself. She just hadn’t expected Owen of all people to notice.

“What do you want, Owen?” she sighed.

“Nothing!”

“Really? Usually you only compliment me when you need something.”

“I guess I do.” Owen smiled sheepishly. “There is one little thing you could do for me…”

‘Here it comes,’ thought Tosh. “What’s that?”

“Have dinner with me tonight?”

He sounded serious.

“That would be lovely.”

Owen grinned. “It’s a date.”

The End

Sucks, doesn't it?

Yes it doubly sucks!.*ponders using the word "doubly"*

I only vote because it's compulsory here.
I wish it was compulsory here because too many people don't bother and ten complain about who gets voted in. If more people bothered to vote, maybe we wouldn't be stuck with the idiots we end up with.

Nothing wrong with 'doubly'.

I was thinking the same thing but politicians tend to overide the system so the votes get compromised.

Overhere, some people lose faith in the system that they put a donkey vote that doesn't get counted.

Thanks, I wasn't sure. You saved me from looking it up.
Politicians always find a way to get the results THEY want, rather than what the public wants. Everyone here has lost faith in the system, but not voting doesn't help.

You're welcome - English was my best subject in school =)

If only politicians would actually want the same things as the public. They use tax payers money to travel around for goodness sake!

English was my favourite subject too. Although I wish I had learnt more to do even better in my class.
Politicians are completely out of touch with reality. They should have to live on minimum wage for at least 6 months sop they understand the hardships.

I got my best marks in my English exams. I wish I'd worked harder in other classes though.

Yes, its bad enough that they are in the news for their indiscretions, rather than what they are standing for.

If only, but at least you know better by now.

Not that I ever plan on taking classes again. Too lazy for that ;)

Yeah, why can't they do something useful?

I took a course for the sake of learning how to study without support.

Everything is more accessible these days online. Listening to audio and video demonstrations.

I find learning new things fun when it's on the basic of gaining knowledge and no deadline.

Political news is a prime example of where people can be academics but lack the credibility to follow through on their so called good deeds.

My brain doesn't want to take in much in the way of new knowledge unless it's new craft skills, lol! Academic learning makes me want to sleep...

Politicians have no clue about real life.

I'd rather improve on my emotional intelligence. That is a more useful skill.

Well, you can always listen/read academic topics to fall asleep.

Tell me about it. I'm not saying I know everything but consistency in ones actions should play a major role in politics.
It really should, and when they say they're going to do something, they should do it instead of dropping the idea the minute they get elected. *iz snarly*

I'd rather read a good novel before going to sleep.

Yeah, they usually make these lame excuses about why they can't follow through. This is why I prefer to see how a person act's rather than them saying stuff they can't guarantee.

Well, I hope you still get your beauty sleep regardless.:)
I don't know about beauty sleep, but I do at least get some sleep. Reading relaxes me.

True, actions speak louder than words. Politicians are all hot air >=[
