FAKE Triple Drabble: Helping Hand

Title: Helping Hand
Author: badly_knitted
Characters: Dee, Ryo.
Rating: G
Setting: After Vol. 7.
Summary: Dee can’t find a parking space.
Written Using: The tw100 prompt ‘Car Park’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Triple drabble.

The parking lot was packed; Dee had already driven around it three times looking for a space, but to no avail. The only empty spaces were those reserved for the disabled, but no matter how annoying the situation might be he wasn’t about to use one of those. Forget about it being illegal; it was unethical. Dee knew what it was like to have limited mobility, and his leg had only been in a cast for a few short weeks. He wasn’t going to make things harder for people who had to deal with mobility problems every day.

“This is pointless, Dee. Just drop me off and find somewhere else to park. I’ll call you when I’ve got everything and you can pick me up at the loading area.”

“But that’ll mean you have to do all the grocery shopping by yourself!”

“Not like it’ll be the first time. I can manage.”

Dee looked at his partner dubiously. “And how are you gonna steer the cart one-handed? Especially when it’s full.” Ryo’s left arm was out of action and would be for several weeks, thanks to a suspect who’d decided he wasn’t coming quietly, or at all if he could avoid it.

“Believe it or not, it’s not the first time I’ve had to do that either.”

“Fine, I’ll drop you off and park elsewhere, but then I’m comin’ back to help with the shopping. I can go fetch the car when we’re done. Okay?”

“If that’s what you want to do; just don’t think you have to. I’m not helpless.”

“I never said you were, but everyone can use a helping hand every now and then,” Dee said, stopping the car to let Ryo out. “Especially when it comes to shopping carts; those things have minds of their own!”

The End

Such a guy!

Dee is Ryo's hero ;)

Thank you!
LOL at the last line! And as usual, I can definitely sympathize with the boys. Drew wanted me to use one of the WalMart mobile carts shortly after I was operated on, and I pretty well told her no way in He--. Just because others take advantage of those few things the handicapped are giving to help them doesn't mean I ever will -- or will Dee and Ryo, for that matter!
The boys have their morals on right. They (and we) leave such things for those who really need them. I have a friend with MS, she has a mobility scooter to get around in, and an electric wheelchair at home. Physically getting around is so hard for her. It puts my own problems into perspective.

Shopping trolleys are possessed by nasty little imps ;)

Thank you!
