A/N: Meant to post this one yesterday. It’s a double drabble.
Dee was highly attuned to everything about his partner; nothing escaped his notice, so when Ryo arrived at work almost half an hour late and looking rather the worse for wear, naturally he had to say something.
“What the hell happened to you?”
Ryo limped over to their desks, sinking wearily into his seat. “You know I don’t believe all that nonsense about Friday the thirteenth being unlucky, right?” he asked tiredly.
“Yeah, I don’t either, but what’s that got to do with anything?”
“Apparently Friday the thirteenth’s got it in for me.”
“You’re not makin’ any sense, bud,” Dee said worriedly.
“My watch was running slow so I missed my bus, but they’re pretty regular so I figured I’d just wait for the next one. Only when it arrived, it didn’t stop, just swerved onto the sidewalk, slammed into the shelter and knocked it down on top of me. I was stuck underneath everything until rescue services arrived and lifted it enough to pull me out.”
“Are you okay?”
Ryo nodded. “Paramedics checked me over; minor cuts and bruises and a sprained ankle, nothing serious, but I’m starting to wonder if there’s something to Friday the thirteenth after all.”
