Ryo shivered, tugging his coat tighter around him before blowing on his hands. He really wished he hadn’t left his gloves in the car.
“Cold?” Dee asked.
In Ryo’s opinion it was a stupid question; the answer should’ve been obvious, so if his reply was a bit snippy it was only to be expected. “Cold? I’m freezing my ass off!” He stamped his feet, viciously imagining he was trampling his partner underfoot.
Dee, whose brilliant idea this has been… “We should wait until he leaves, then follow him on foot,” he’d said of their suspect. “See where he goes.”
So they had, and after trailing him through the streets for a good half hour he’d gone inside a building. Now they were waiting for him to come out again. They’d been waiting for over an hour.
It had been fine while they were walking, the brisk exercise had kept their blood pumping, but now they were standing still and the cold was eating its way through the soles of Ryo’s shoes, freezing him from the ground upwards.
“Here, take my gloves.” Pulling them off, Dee held them out.
Like gloves were going to warm him! Ryo accepted them anyway.
