This was the Christmas Eve Dee had hoped for back before they finally got together. It had taken a while to get here but the wait was so worth it. Hand in hand they strolled amongst New York’s bright lights and Christmas decorations, admiring the festive finery.

From there, they went to an intimate little restaurant for a romantic candlelit dinner for two, finishing their meal off with glasses of celebratory champagne. Then, after another leisurely stroll looking at the shop window displays, they caught a cab home and made out on the sofa as snowflakes drifted past their window; looked like they’d be getting a white Christmas this year.

Later, in bed, worn out and sated, they lay in each other’s arms, drowsy and content.

“This is perfect,” Dee murmured against Ryo’s hair. “If there’s a better way of spendin’ Christmas Eve, it hasn’t been invented yet.”

“Mm,” Ryo sighed, stretching languidly and rolling over to drape one bare arm across Dee’s chest. “I can’t believe I once chose work over this. Of course if you’d told me back then that you’d made plans for us…”

“You still would’a said no.”

“Probably, but I’m saying yes now, and forever.”

The End
