Double Drabble: Like A Dream

Title: Like A Dream
Author: badly_knitted
Characters: Tosh.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 550: Run at tw100.
Spoilers: Fragments.
Summary: Freed from the UNIT prison, Tosh is amazed by the luxury of her new home.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.

Left alone in her new house, Tosh wandered from room to room, bewildered at having so much space after been shut in a tiny cell for so long. There was a small hallway leading into a combined living and dining room, and a compact but well-equipped kitchen. The stairs led up to a landing from which doors opened into a spacious bedroom and a bathroom dominated by a big, old-fashioned enamelled bathtub. To Tosh’s eyes, it was the most beautiful sight imaginable.

Quickly she put in the plug and turned on the hot tap, letting it run. The water came through cold at first but soon enough steam began to fill the room. There were rows of toiletries on a shelf: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, all of them fairly generic, and right at the end a big bottle of lavender bubble bath. Pouring a generous amount into the water, she watched almost hypnotised as it started to foam.

It was like a wonderful dream! After months of lukewarm showers, to have the luxury of an actual bath…

Turning off the tap, Tosh stripped out of her clothes and slid into the water. This was what it meant to be free.

The End

From the hub to the tub.:)
Yep! And a hot soak is just what the doctor ordered.

Thank you!
I want one too. I'm so lazy filling up the bathtub.:)

And you're welcome!
Mine takes so long to fill its rarely worth the effort =(
I know what you mean. I don't want to waste water either.:(
Yes, there's that.

It's the taps we had put on the bath a few years ago. The old ones were so much better.
The small fiddley ones that look like they will come flying off if you turn too hard or quickly?

Yep, I have those.

Actually no, these ones are for people who have bad hands, it was to make it easier for mum to use them, a lever that can be moved with one finger.
Oh okay. The only thing you have to worry about is the water pressure. I wish I knew about plumbing so I can adjust mine.
The spouts of these taps are so darn small not much water gets out, that's the problem. Even turned on full it takes forever.
That's inconvenient. I don't suppose you can get a plumber to look at it?
It's just the way they're designed. The only way to fix it would be to have new taps again and I can't afford to. They're expensive =(
I was afraid you'd say that.*pats on shoulder*

Sometimes we have to make do.
Yep, but it sucks when I feel like soaking in the bath.
That does sound heavenly (even if I prefer showers XD ) :)
Tosh has been showering in cold water for weeks, maybe even months, surrounded by other inmates and prison guards. Getting to soak in a relaxing hot bath in her own bathroom is a pleasure she thought she'd never experience again.

Thank you!
