Drabble: Next Generation

Title: Next Generation
Author: badly_knitted
Characters: Owen, Ianto, Gwen, kids.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 565: Kid / Kidding at tw100.
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: The Hub is overflowing with children.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

“It’s turning into a kid’s day-care centre around here,” Owen said, frowning as eight-year-old Meriel dashed past in pursuit of five-year-old Lily.

“What’re you complaining about? One of them is yours,” Ianto said. He had his six-month-old daughter Jenna on his hip. Gwen was bouncing Jenna’s twin brother Gareth on her lap and looking broody, as if she didn’t have enough already with ten-year-old Anwen, and four-year-old Gethyn, who were at home with their dad.

“I wasn’t complaining, just making an observation,” Owen corrected. “Martha’s due any day now.”

“Good thing we’ve still got a spare medic then,” Ianto teased.

The End

I'd be a bit nervous about small children running about the hub It was bad enough when they pulled all the books off the library shelves. At least the only danger was to my temper. However all the team will be on their toes
The Hub has been childproofed, Ianto saw to that when they had work done. The older kids have areas where they're allowed and they stick to them. The little ones have a nursery/playroom and only come out of there with an adult.

Thank you!
I like stories where T3 have families. There's no reason why they shouldn't, accommodations can be made. In my headcanon, they even have their own Torchwood school/daycare where they'll know the kids are safe. The teacher is also trained in field work and weapons. ;)

That's a cool idea! Train them early ;)

In this 'verse the kids go to mainstream schools, but they have rather unique nannies/playmates in the form of Fluffs. The fic I posted this evening has toddler Meriel enjoying some quality time with her best friend Nosy, the original Fluff who started it all.

Thank you!
