Many years ago, back on earth, Ianto had often stood beside Jack on a Cardiff rooftop, staring up at the stars and wondering what it would really be like to travel among them.
Jack would point to this star or that one, telling him tales of daring exploits, incredible sights, and mysterious aliens, everything from his assignments for the Time Agency to his adventures with the Doctor. Some of the stories were scary, others thrilling, more than a few erotic in nature, but all them had only served to whet Ianto’s appetite. Hearing about the wonders of the universe wasn’t the same as seeing them for himself.
Back then, despite Jack’s promises to take him out into space someday, Ianto had never really believed his lover, convinced he’d live and die on the planet of his birth, probably before he even reached thirty. He’d been right, but he’d also been completely wrong, because although he had indeed died, he was alive again now, and travelling the universe with Jack.
And they were having adventures, some scary, some thrilling, even some of an erotic nature; it would never do to offend their hosts by refusing their hospitality.
He couldn’t be happier!
