Ianto's Coffee

Double Drabble: Favouritism

Title: Favouritism
Author: badly_knitted
Characters: Ianto, Jack.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 571: Simple at tw100.
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: The coffee machine won’t work for just anyone.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.

From his first day with Torchwood Three, Ianto had found it difficult to understand why the supposedly intelligent people he was working with seemed completely incapable of operating a perfectly simple coffee machine.

He’d found the instruction manual helpfully tucked underneath it when he’d been cleaning the Hub on his first morning, and after giving the machine itself a thorough clean he’d bought some good quality beans for it, and set it to work. He’d been turning out high quality caffeinated beverages ever since. Really, it couldn’t have been more straightforward to use if it had operated itself.

Even with the instructions, however, the other team members were completely incapable of getting anything remotely drinkable out of it, as he’d discovered when he returned from his month’s suspension. The machine had been a mess again, smeared with something that looked like treacle but smelled like burned coffee.

“It spat all over Owen when he tried to make a brew,” Jack said. “He followed the instructions, but… it only likes you.”

“It’s a coffee machine! It can’t like or dislike people!” Ianto would’ve thought that was self-evident.

Jack huffed. “Try telling the machine that.”

When Ianto turned it on, it purred.

The End

Comments

LOL - little does Ianto realize his personal charm and appeal. Loved this!
The coffee machine is basking under all his attention. Who says machines have no feelings?

Thank you!
Great, now a sentient coffee machine. Like all intelligent beings such as us it appreciates Ianto who takes the trouble to look after it and treat it properly.
It certainly delights in Ianto's attention. At last someone who respects and cares for it!

Thank you!
