Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Double drabble.

Having good neighbours was a blessing, Ryo reflected, as he lay in bed, feverish and restless, especially with him being a single parent. He knew Dee would’ve helped out, but the precinct was already short-handed.

Besides, he didn’t want his partner catching this cold; it was a bad one, leaving Ryo with no energy for anything beyond staying in bed and trying to sleep. Not that sleep came easy with all the sneezing and difficulty breathing, and his fever was plaguing him with weird dreams whenever he did manage to drift off.

To keep Bikky from getting sick too, Ryo had sent him next door to stay with Melinda, who’d generously offered to take care of him while Ryo wasn’t in any fit state to. Bikky hadn’t been pleased, saying he was fourteen and perfectly capable of taking care of both himself and Ryo, but Ryo had pointed out that Bikky couldn’t afford to get sick from all the germs hanging round the apartment, not when the first game of the school’s basketball season was less than a week away.

So Bikky was next door, Dee was working, and all Ryo had to do was sleep.

If only he could.

The End
