Going undercover might sound exciting if you were into that kind of thing, but Ianto wasn’t finding the idea particularly inspiring. He would have just as soon let someone else do it, but the place was an exclusive men’s club, which ruled out Gwen and Tosh, Jack was too well known, and Owen would stick out like a sore thumb. That left only one choice.
“Don’t look so worried, Ianto! We’ll be listening in all the time through this.” Jack held up a small device. “And we’ll be in there like a shot if you need us.”
“You want me to wear a wire? What if they pat me down and find it?”
“They’d hardly do that to a potential new member; they’ll just do a background check, and Tosh has that covered. If they look you up online they’ll find you have impeccable credentials.”
Ianto wasn’t convinced. “I still don’t like the idea of having that thing taped to my chest. Don’t you have something in a nice, understated tiepin?”
“Sorry.” Tosh smiled apologetically. “I can’t get enough range on something that small.”
“Besides,” Jack added, “your chest isn’t where I’m planning on taping it.”
“I’m officially in Hell!”
