Double Drabble: Flying Free

Title: Flying Free
Author: badly_knitted
Characters: Crow Ianto, Jack.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 586: Bird at tw100.
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Ianto is really getting to grips with the whole flying thing.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.

Ianto smiled inwardly, since at present he couldn’t do so outwardly. Free as a bird! There really was nothing quite like it, especially on a windy day like this. Now at last he understood what set certain birds soaring in windy conditions; it was thrilling, the air currents lifting and tossing him, invisible fingers tugging at his wings and threading through his breast feathers.

He cawed loudly, shouting out his joy to the world, swooping low over Jack’s head before soaring skyward once more. He felt as if he could do this all day, playing tag with his invisible playmate.

Standing in the park below, Jack watched Ianto in flight, delighting at his lover’s effortless control as he slipped from one air current to another, doing loop-the-loops and barrel rolls that would be the envy of any fighter pilot. This was so different from his early days, fluttering hesitantly from perch to perch, and flapping wildly when hit by an unexpected gust. Now it was as if Ianto could almost see the air currents, knew which ones would take him where he wanted to go.

Jack wished he could be up there too, flying for the sheer joy of it.
