There are some things it’s impossible to put a value on; they’re beyond price. Things like waking up each morning beside someone you love more than life itself.
Ianto had thought he’d lost that when Lisa had been half-converted into a metal monster before her mind was taken over by the cyber-programming and she’d had to be executed. The thought that he might never again know the kind of love he’d felt for her was almost worse than seeing the monster she’d become mercilessly gunned down by his colleagues.
His heart had broken into a million pieces and there’d seemed little point in trying to carry on; he’d drifted through each day on autopilot, numb with grief, existing more by habit than by conscious choice.
But then there was Jack, gently picking up the shattered fragments that were all that remained of Ianto’s heart and fitting them back together, making him feel whole again. He’d been patient and kind, never pushing or demanding, but in time Ianto had found it was possible to love again.
Yes, some things are priceless, like waking up each morning with your husband to the hungry wails of your baby daughter.
Ianto feels truly blessed.
