“Oh, I’m so sorry!” Ianto gasped, looking horrified. “That was so clumsy of me. Here, please, let me help. It’s a good thing it was only water, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I ruined your lovely dress!”
Snatching up some paper serviettes from the bar, Ianto mopped water from the young woman’s arm and sleeve, then fumbled as he approached her chest.
“Oh, um, perhaps you should do that part yourself, I wouldn’t want you to think I was being inappropriate.”
Utterly charmed by the handsome young man, Madeleine Kowalski smiled at him, taking the serviettes and mopping around her generous cleavage.
“It’s quite alright, no harm done. Like you said, it’s just a bit of water. I’m Maddy, by the way.”
“Oh, um, Ianto, pleasure to meet you, although the circumstances are a bit… well, awkward. Would you perhaps let me buy you a drink to make up for…” He waved his hand vaguely. “This?”
“Thank you, I’d like that. Bacardi and Coke please.”
“And that,” Ianto told Owen half a hour later as the reporter succumbed to the Retcon he’d slipped into her drink, “is how it’s done. Just takes a bit of finesse.”
