BtVS Double Drabble: Room For Hope

Title: Room For Hope
Fandom: BtVS
Author: badly_knitted
Characters: Buffy, Angel.
Rating: PG
Written For: Challenge #190: Amnesty at drabble_weekly, using Challenge #18: Hope.
Spoilers/Setting: First half of Season 3.
Summary: Angel is recovering from his time in the Hell dimensions.
Disclaimer: I don’t own BtVS, or the characters. They belong to the amazing Joss Whedon.
A/N: Double drabble.

Angel was back after who knew how long being tortured in the Hell dimension. Things between them had been a bit rocky to begin with, he’d been practically a wild animal, scared and vicious, but he’d recognised her and once past that first hurdle he’d gradually recovered.

He was almost his normal self now. Still a bit wary around her and her friends, but she suspected that was mostly because he was worried about what would inevitably follow if he ever let himself get too happy again.

Giles and the others were still a little wary too, and Buffy could hardly blame them after what they’d been through at Angelus’ hands, but this was Angel, vampire with a soul, not his sadistic demon alter ego. They’d come around; they just needed a little more time.

She knew things could never be quite the way they had been, they couldn’t do the whole traditional boyfriend-girlfriend thing, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t still be friends, just without the benefits. Well, kissing might still be okay, it they wanted to go there.

Okay, so it would be way different, but still, maybe there was a little room for hope in her life.

The End
