Summary: Berkeley Rose is finally having to accept that Ryo will never be his.

A/N: Double drabble and a half, 250 words.
Commissioner Berkeley Rose frowned. He was a man used to getting whatever he wanted; it was one of the perks that wealth and privilege brought, and growing up he’d come to accept it as his due. He was older now, had long since grown out of throwing tantrums when he didn’t get his way, but that didn’t mean losing out on something he’d set his sights on didn’t still sting.
Of course this time it wasn’t just some antique he’d been outbid over, instead it was a person, the delectably gorgeous Detective Randy Maclean. From the moment they’d met while on vacation in England, Berkeley had been drawn to the half-Japanese man. It was impossible not to find oneself all but drowning in the fathomless depths of those pitch black eyes and so he’d courted the object of his desire with expensive gifts, had done his level best to woo fair Ryo, all to no avail. It was disconcerting.
Always before, such methods had easily won him any man or woman he’d shown interest in, but not on this occasion. Indeed, much of the time Ryo seemed to have been oblivious to the fact that he was being courted, and now he was moving in with that lout Dee Laytner. Why in the world would Ryo choose Laytner over everything Berkeley could offer? It defied understanding!
But he’d made his choice, for better or worse.
Maybe it was time Berkeley gave up and accepted defeat as graciously as he could.
