Double Drabble: Incompatible

Summary: The SUV is practically indestructible, but sadly not Jack proof.

A/N: Double drabble.




The SUV was augmented in at least a dozen different ways, with reinforced panels, scratchproof bodywork, alien tech-enhanced computer systems, rust-proofing underneath to keep the chassis and floor panels free of corrosion regardless of weather and the terrain it was driven over, and an engine so finely tuned it would keep going in almost any conditions.


But somehow, despite being practically bombproof, Jack had still managed to break it.


“What did you do this time?” Ianto asked wearily, staring at the valiant vehicle sitting by the side of the road, bonnet up and a few wisps of smoke still rising through the fire-retardant foam Jack had sprayed into the engine compartment.


“It wasn’t my fault! I just needed to recharge the Big Gun; it was running out of juice, so I hooked it up to the SUV’s battery. Everything was fine, I finished off the last of the invasion force, but then smoke started coming out from under the bonnet. I stopped it from bursting into flames though.”


Ianto sighed. “You can’t just hook two incompatible technologies together and hope for the best, Jack!”


“But it worked!”


“It burnt out half the engine! We’re going to need a tow truck.”
