“Again? What does it take to satisfy you?” Ianto stared into the big, pleading blue eyes and felt himself weakening. How could he possibly refuse? That was love for you, it put you at the mercy of your loved ones, slave to their every whim or desire. “Well, okay, but this is absolutely the last time.” He started the rhyme again, complete with the appropriate actions. “Itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout…”

Coming into the nursery Jack groaned and shuddered. “Not the spider one again! It gives me the creeps!”

“She likes it,” Ianto said as the baby kicked her legs, waved her arms, and squealed with delight. “If it makes her happy, who am I to judge?”

“You should’ve skipped that one, there are plenty of other nursery rhymes in the book. Humpty Dumpy, Little Bo Peep, Mary Mary Quite Contrary, Little Jack Horner. I like that one!”

“You would.”

“But no, our little princess has to get fixated on Itsy Bitsy Spider. I guarantee she wouldn’t like it if there was a real spider in there with her.”

“Jack, don’t you dare infect Meriel with your arachnophobia! Our little girl isn’t going to be afraid of anything!”
