Double Drabble: Roundup Time
Title: Roundup Time
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Ianto, Jack, Team.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 636: Circle at
tw100.
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Catching aliens is seldom as straightforward as it sounds.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Ianto crouched between Jack and the rest of the team, peering over a clump of small shrubs in Bute Park, studying the latest alien creature to have been snatched up by the Rift.
It wasn’t an encouraging sight; the creature was easily the size of a rhinoceros, perhaps bigger, with a long neck, powerful shoulders and forelegs, a sloping back leading to muscular hindquarters, and a thick, fleshy tail that it used to help it balance on its squat hindlegs as it stretched upwards to browse on leaves. Although it appeared to be herbivorous, its sheer size and obvious strength were daunting.
“Any suggestions on how to capture it?” Ianto looked expectantly at Torchwood’s leader.
“Um,” said Jack. “Maybe half of us could circle around it and try to drive it back towards the rest of us so we can trap it?”
“That’s the best idea you can come up with?”
“Hey, it’s not easy coming up with a plan on the spur of the moment!”
“Perhaps not, but that’s still the lamest I’ve ever heard. What, exactly, would you suggest we use to trap it?”
“How should I know? I don’t see anyone else coming up with any ideas.”
