“I thought you told me those alien fruits were safe to eat,” Ianto grumbled, trying not to scratch at the itchy puce spots that had broken out all over him. He and Jack were headed back to the Happy Wanderer to access the medical diagnostic equipment.
“They should have been! I don’t understand it; everyone eats them. They’re a universal food, completely harmless to practically every species in the universe!”
Ianto wasn’t sure whether he was more annoyed about the infernal itching or that he’d never be able to eat the alien fruits again. They were the most delicious thing he’d tasted on his travels, but if he was going to break out like this from eating them, he’d have to forego the pleasure.
Jack took blood, skin scrapings, samples from the weeping spots, and ran his lover through the medical scanners. Then, while everything was analysed, Ianto was sprayed all over with something to stop the itching.
Finally, the test results came back.
“Good news!” Jack beamed. “You’re not allergic to the fruits!”
“Great! But if I’m not allergic to them, why did I break out in spots?”
“Because you’re violently allergic to the grass we were sitting on.”
