It was all over the news, in every country the world over: children chanting in unison. After three days, nothing else, no other current events, seemed half as important.
Why was it happening? What did the chanting mean?
Torchwood was as much in the dark as anyone, although they could make some educated guesses. For a start, alien involvement was a given, but which aliens and why, well, that might take a bit longer to figure out.
If the team had still been at the Hub with all the available resources at their disposal, they would have been in a better position to do something, but a bunch of government sanctioned black ops assassins were hell bent on preventing them from doing their job. It made no sense, but they weren’t currently in any position to complain. They had no idea who, if anyone, they could trust.
It made little difference; they couldn’t allow themselves to be stopped until the threat was neutralised. That was their job, and they weren’t about to let the world down, no matter the cost.
If they had to steal what they needed in order to get answers, well, it wouldn’t be the first time.
