Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters. They belong to the BBC.

At the beginning, Jack hadn’t wanted to let anyone associated with Torchwood One through the doors, much less one of the few survivors of the Canary Wharf battle. According to his records, however, Ianto Jones had been nothing more than a lowly junior researcher. He’d had nothing to do with the Ghost Shift project, and he couldn’t be a spy, since there was nobody left of One’s upper echelon to report back to. Besides, he was pretty to look at, had a Welsh accent to die for, and offered a pterodactyl as a bribe, so Jack had caved and offered young Mr Jones a job.

He’d had cause to regret that decision a few months later when the reason for Ianto’s determination to join Torchwood Three had become clear, but as misguided as his attempt to save his half-Cyberized girlfriend had been, it had been motivated by love, so Jack had decided against retcon or execution. Losing the woman he’d loved was punishment enough, and despite Jack’s initial misgivings, Ianto Jones had long since proved his worth.

He was efficiency personified, and it was fair to say that the day-to-day running of the Hub had never been carried out to a higher standard. The main work areas were kept tidy and as clean as possible, the inmates down in the cells were well cared for, repairs were dealt with in a timely fashion, and the most heavenly coffee Jack had ever tasted was available whenever he wanted it, freshly made and piping hot. Even the archives were finally living up to their designation, with their contents sorted, catalogued, and neatly arranged so that anything needed could easily be located.

Of course, these days Ianto Jones was far more than Torchwood Three’s General Support Officer and sometime field agent. His unmatched efficiency extended to other areas as well, as he maintained Torchwood’s leader in peak condition along with all the Hub’s other essential equipment.

Jack was kept fed and caffeinated, his clothing was cleaned and repaired as necessary, and his other physical needs attended to with vigour and enthusiasm. Not that Ianto’s job description required him to do any of these things, with the possible exception of making coffee, picking up the dry cleaning, and repairing the coat, but he gave his all to everything he did.

Needless to say, when it came to the strictly personal side of their relationship, Jack reciprocated with equal enthusiasm. He was, after all, highly skilled in that area, and with everything Ianto did to make Jack’s life easier, it was only fair that Jack should always endeavour to satisfy his lover to the best of his considerable abilities. Efficiency might not be a word usually associated with Jack, especially with regards to paperwork, but in certain other areas he could be relied on to excel. He certainly wasn’t hearing any complaints from Ianto.

Ianto’s efficiency in his work was undeniable and couldn’t be faulted, but the bedroom was where Jack did his best work.

The End
