Ryo was pretty sure Dee hadn’t planned things this way; his lover was a lot of things, but he wasn’t this devious. Still, as coincidences went it was a pretty big one. What were the odds that Ryo would drop by Dee’s apartment just in time to rescue him when he needed help?
The visit wasn’t planned, there was no way Dee could’ve known he’d show up, but Ryo had arrived on the fourth-floor landing to find his partner with his arms full, trying to wedge his burden against the wall so he could get his keys out.
Dee’s face lit up. “Hey, perfect timin’! Just when I thought I’d haveta put all this down. Could ya dig my keys outta my pocket?” Dee shifted carefully, sticking one hip out.
Obediently, Ryo plunged his hand into Dee’s front pants pocket, rummaging around, finding loose change and sundry items, but no keys. He tried the other pocket, but the keys weren’t there either.
“I can’t find them.”
“That’s ‘cause you’re lookin’ in the wrong pocket; they’re in my jacket.”
“You couldn’t have told me that sooner?”
“I guess, but I was too busy enjoyin’ you searchin’ for ‘em.”
Ryo blushed. “Hornball!”
