A/N: Double drabble.
“Balls!” Ryo said, grabbing Dee by the arm and steering him in a different direction as they wended their way through the noisy throngs of Christmas shoppers packing the mall.
Dee stopped dead and turned to face his lover, his eyebrows disappearing into his hair.
“Excuse me?” Between the cacophony of Christmas music pouring out of the shops and the loud arguments and screaming of kids, Dee could barely hear himself think, but surely Ryo hadn’t said what he’d just heard.
“We need some more; we don’t have enough! You must remember; half of ours were broken when that squirrel got into the apartment New Year’s Day and went on the rampage through our tree.”
They’d had the windows open for a while, airing the place out following their party the night before, and their overexcited visitor had sent decorations flying in all directions.
The penny dropped. “Oh, you mean baubles!”
Ryo frowned. “That’s what I said.”
“Right, yeah, it’s just kinda noisy in here.”
Nearby, a toddler was throwing an epic tantrum as the harassed mom juggled bags and a stroller.
“What did you think I said?”
“I’ll tell ya later. Let’s go get our tree some new decorations.”
