FAKE Triple Drabble: Tactile

Title: Tactile
Fandom: FAKE
Author: badly_knitted
Characters: Dee, Ryo.
Rating: PG
Setting: After the manga.
Summary: Ryo is a very tactile person.
Written Using: The dw100 prompt ‘Touch’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Triple drabble.

Even before they became a couple, when they were simply work partners, gradually getting to know each, setting the foundations of what Dee had hoped would develop at least into friendship, he’d realised Ryo was a very tactile person. He demonstrated his affection for people through touch, whether that was hugging Bikky or merely ruffling the boy’s hair, and goodnight kisses were second nature to him.

It seemed to Dee to be a curious double standard. Ryo was allowed to bestow kisses at will, pecking Dee on the cheek, or even on the lips, but when Dee moved in for a smooch, he got firmly rebuffed. Unless he was quick enough and managed to establish a lip-lock before Ryo could react, in which case his partner would begin to melt before remembering he was supposed to be rejecting Dee’s advances.

Still, it was clear to Dee from the start that Ryo liked to touch and be touched, just as long as there wasn’t anything overtly sexual about it. A hand on the shoulder, a pat on the back, even a comforting hug, were all accepted with a smile, and frequently reciprocated.

Dee had never considered himself a touchy-feely type of person, and yet he quickly found himself establishing an odd kind of nonverbal language with his partner, especially when involved with a particularly nasty case, where he simply couldn’t find words that would adequately express his thoughts and emotions. Then, a touch could somehow convey everything without a single word needing to be spoken. He and Ryo seemed able to draw strength from each other through the merest brush of a hand; Dee had never felt closer to, or more in tune with, anyone.

If only they were as good at communicating with words as they were with their bodies.

The End
