Drabble: The Possimpible - Sequel to ‘Identifying The Impossible’

Title: The Possimpible - Sequel to 'Identifying The Impossible'

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Ianto, Jack, OC

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 316 – Reverse Fandom – How I Met Your Mother at tw100

Spoilers: Nada.

Summary: Jack explains, which doesn’t really help much.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: Prompt = title.

“A Possimpible? What’s that?” Ianto sounded rather bemused.

Jack laughed.

“Possimpibles are things that’re mostly what they should be, but partly not. It’s an occasional side effect of living so close to the Rift. Almost everyone around here is a tiny bit not what they are, but in most cases it’s like 0.00001%, practically undetectable, you’d never know. Some creatures attract more of what they aren’t though, and they become Possimpibles. This one seems to have picked up nearly 8% of Not Wallaby. That’s high, must’ve been very near a few Rift events.”

“Is it dangerous?”

“Nah. Just kinda weird.”

Yes, that is a bit weird...but trust Jack to really know what their new friend is!
Or at least have a general idea. That is, it's still mostly a wallaby, just a wallaby plus some random Rift-borne attachments, lol!

Thank you!
*scratches head* a little confused here. Ha maybe I should, wait to read until my head is a bit clearer.

Funny though.

It IS confusing. Even Ianto's going "Huh?" and scratching his head. Jack's explanations don't necessarily explain anything helpful, loL!

Thank you!
Having a fever doesn't help me understand Jack's convoluted speech. Now I wait patiently for the flash-fanworks challenge to be over so I can post my piece in journal.
No, that wouldn't help at all! Hope you'll feel better soon!

I haven't posted the last two challenges to my journal yet, I'm way behind because of the bingo!
Thanks. Summer colds are the worst. The weather is hot and so am I, not a good combo.

I don't know that fandom you write those fills for. Heh for this last one I finished a story I had started a whole ago and plus I,got my first bingo fill.
I noticed, congratulations! I haven't read it yet, but hopefully tomorrow I can start catching up with my reading.

One of the ones I haven't posted to my journals yet is a Torchwood piece. I've mostly written FAKE over there becauds that's what the prompts have inspired, but for the Mosters promot I used Torchwood.

The weather here is cold and wet =(

Lol, I love it when you get on a roll with these things :)
More of a bounce this time, it being a wallaby - of sorts. LOL!

Thank you! There are two more if I've counted correctly.
And the coining of new words gets better and better!
LL! Glad you like it!

Thank you!
PPPPPFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTT SO IT'S ONLY MOSTLY WALLABY

YOU KNOW THE THING ABOUT BEING MOSTLY WALLABY? THAT MEANS IT'S SLIGHTLY ALIEN

THEREFORE I WAS RIGHT

(neeeeed moreeeeee sleeeeeeep.....)
ROFL!

Well, a tiny bit alien, possibly. It could have a bit of book, a bit of tree, a bit of alien, even a bit of human in it now. Maybe it was drawn to the flowers because it's a wallaby with a tiny bit of bee in it, who knows? All they're suse of is that it's only about 92% wallaby and 8% other things ;)

Thank you!
So the rift just kind of scrambles the DNA? Strangely enough, that seems like a completely plausible explanation. I wonder if over the years, the little differences would get compounded until you ended up with what basically qualified as an entirely different species. Hey, that could be where things like Platypus' came from.
Who knows? Although, Jack doesn't seem to think it works like that. The Rift does seem to swap out random bits of DNA with bits from other sources though.

Thank you!
Just kinda weird - that's how the professionals call it! :D
Yep! Jack's well versed in all the professional terminology! LOL!

Thank you!
smh.... OOOokkk Jack... operative word being 'weird'

Jack's trying (very trying sometimes, as I'm sure Ianto would agree), but his explanations leave a lot to be desired, lol!

Thank you.
lol now thats and interesting .... something.

great drabble.
LOL! Ianto doesn't know what to make of any of this! The wallaby doesn't particularly care.

Thank you!
Lol!
Makes sense I guess..

The Torchwood team seek out rift activity.... does that mean they are in danger of becoming possimpibles?
Jack's explanations always make sense. It's just that often people can't understand them, lol!

The team tends to arrive after the fact, so there's less chance for them to change so drastically, though enhanced abilities are quite likely. I like to think Daisy escaped fromm the zoo and was right there when the Rift dropped the defabricator, so got a big dose of whatever the Rift was lugging around at the time, stray bits of DNA it didn't know what to do with. Maybe Daisy was prone to escaping a lot and was on the scene several times when the Rift dropped something off, so the bits of stray DNA built up over time.

Thank you!

Sounds like a rather... interesting creature! ;)
Well, I'm hoping it will prove interesting, lol!

Thank you!
