Drabble: Adrift

Title: Adrift

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Jonah Bevan

Rating: PG

Written For: Challenge 316 – Reverse Fandom – How I Met Your Mother at tw100

Spoilers: Adrift.

Summary: Jonah’s harrowing experiences after being taken by the Rift.

Warning: Very angsty for me.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: Prompt at the end.

He’d been hardly more than a child that night, heading home from football practice, looking forward to a home-cooked meal. Next thing he’d known he was someplace else. He’d thought it must be hell.

How long he was there, he didn’t know. Time passed differently somehow. Day and night became meaningless concepts; there were only the flames and the burning. He thought sometimes, when he could think at all, that maybe he was slipping in and out of time.

Then the scream found him and he was trapped, one scream joining the next like links in an endless chain.

Forever.

The End

A/N2: Title used is ‘The Chain Of Screaming’

*shudder*. Dreadful. So frightening. Even the thought of it...
I know! It's taken me a good three weeks just to get up the nerve to try writing this one. Sorry it's such a traumatic read =(
Wow! That one's kind of a kick to the gut.

I don't think I've read one from the POV of the victim before that wasn't about one of the team. Good job of handling a tough subject.
Thank you. It took me several weeks to work myself up to trying this one, it was hard to write just because it's so horrific. No happy endings here.
Oh dear... *shivers*
I know. Sorry!

But the prompt fitted too well for me to ignore it, even though it took me weeks to pluck up the courage to tackle it.

Happy drabble tomorrow.

Thank you!
*cries and waves hands frantically* Can you go back to writing fluff bingo? Please?

This is a good representation of the topic, though. I don't know if I've ever seen a victim fic that wasn't Ianto or Jack. It makes you think again, a little more deeply, about all the things Torchwood faces and whether it's really the creatures' faults for attacking whenever they pop out in Cardiff.
Jonah's story was so tragic, when I saw the prompt I knew I had to try to tackle it, but it took me weeks to work myself up to it.

Sorry for the angst, but it needed writing. We'll be back to fluff with today's drabble - even though it starts off less than fluffily I think the ending makes up for it.

Thank you.
ouch! you really nailed it!
Thank you! This was one of the hardest to write EVER. It took weeks for me to get up the courage to attempt it.
this is infact quite terrifying. great drabble.
Thank you! It must be one of the bleakest things I've ever written!
It is angsty for you!
But you kind of had to use Jonah for that prompt...
Outside you comfort zone but very good. Well done.
Thank you! It took several weeks to get in the right head space to tackle it, but I felt like I had to attempt it. Very angsty indeed!
Spooky! Now I'm scared of being taken by the Rift! D:
Jonah's story was so tragic =(

I think you're safe as long as you stay away from Cardiff.

Thank you!
sniff
Sorry *hugs*
