Drabble: Cleanup Problems

Title: Cleanup Problems

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Ianto, Tosh, Team

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 317 – Mammoth at tw100

Spoilers: Nada.

Summary: The Rift’s latest gift has created a cleanup dilemma for Ianto.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

It hadn’t been an easy task, not by any stretch of the imagination. It had taken the entire team half the night, and a great deal of ingenuity, to drive the immense, lumbering beast across Bute Park and back through the Rift portal that had dumped it in Cardiff.

Considering how long the portal had remained open, they’d been lucky only one creature had found its way through.

Finally, they could begin cleanup.

Tosh would handle the CCTV, erasing visual evidence, but Ianto was flummoxed.

However would he explain away the mammoth footprints in Cardiff council’s freshly laid concrete footpaths?

The End

Comments

Ianto's really going to have to use his imagination on this one.
At least the footprints can't be matched to anything on Earth, so maybe that gives him a little leeway as to what he can blame it on?
He'll have to say it's some kind of prank I suppose, but the council won't be pleased at having to re-surface the paths again!

Poor Ianto, he doesn't need the extra work!

Thank you!
Poor Ianto, now he has a problem! But I'm sure he'll figure out how to solve this. He always does! :D
No doubt he'll come up with a workable explanation, but he could have done without another job when he's tired.

Thank you!
Godzilla stopped by for a friendly visit? LOL!
Termites? Very large hailstones? A problem with the concrete that's made it sink in random places? This is Cardiff, people believe anything, lol!

Thank you!
Bigfoot, Ianto!

Either that or 'those crazy college kids.'

Don't worry; it'll work. This is Cardiff, after all. All the excuses are superficial anyway, people know there's something strange going on!
A hoax, or a publicity stunt gone wrong. I favour 'Termites', lol!

As you say, the people of Cardiff will believe anything. Maybe Ianto will just say it was a bad batch of concrete, it developed strange air bubbles.
OH dear thats going to be hard to explain.

great drabble.
I feel sorry for Ianto - he gets stuck with coming up with believable explanations for the weird things that happens.

D'you think Cardiff council would believe it was termites?

Thank you!
really big termites? I think the city would be in panic if they thought they had termites of that size LOL.
Yeah, that's true. Maybe 'Air bubbles in the concrete' in a better explanation, lol!

Maybe an advert for a new zoo program? This is gonna really tax his powers of BS-ing the citizenry. A prank would be a good excuse but not too many college students are that bright.
Prank, hoax, publicity stunt or vandalism... There aren't too many options really. Ianto will just have to pick one and hope he can make it stick!

Thank you!
may be he can say it was a joint adventure with a Natural Science Museum
It's a theory! The council would still want to know why it had to involve their newly concreted paths.
Yikes, an even bigger problem than mammoth poop, I guess! LOL
Why did the council have to lay new paths when they did? LOL!

Ianto will come up with an explanation, I'm sure.

Thank you!
An American Bigfoot, ;).
Maybe Wales has its own version of Bigfoot!

Thank you!
Yep, that might be tricky indeed XD
Ianto will fix it, even if he has to rope in the rest of the team to help fill in all the holes with fresh concrete!

Thank you!
Umm is there a zoo anywhere near Cardiff that might have lost a large elephant?
Or more likely just some uni students playing a joke.
LOL! I can just see them trying to 'borrow' the elephant from the zoo so they can blame the tracks on it!

Of course, it might not have been an ACTUAL mammoth in this one, it could just be something else with very big feet, it works either way. I only realised that after I posted it.

Thank you!
...
they will dig their heads.
otherwise, it should be told. For the museum!
Ianto will come up with an explanation.

Thank you!
