Fic Of The Week - Week Eleven

It's Monday again, time for a new fic - or two!

Yep, that's right, there are two fics again this week, both shortish series.

The first is a reel_torchwood fic from the last round, so many of you will probably have already read it. I haven't though, and since it's my challenge, I get to choose =)

The Thin Man is by tonjavmoore and was posted in December last year. It's a Prologue, 7 chapters and an Epilogue, so 9 parts altogether, and it takes its inspiration from the Thin Man films of the Thirties, starring William Powell and Myrna Loy, films I remember with fondness from weekend and holiday afternoon TV viewing when I was a kid. Strange how Black & White films just don't seem to be shown much on TV these days. Anyway....

Summary: Captain Jack Harkness, former Torchwood agent, brings his husband to his old stomping grounds of New York City to meet his friends. He didn’t anticipate walking into multiple crimes, missing people, and a general mess. What’s happened in Torchwood?

There's a 'no drinking' warning on the Prologue, so beware!

Prologue is here on LJ: http://tonjavmoore.livejournal.com/17310.html
and here on Dreamwidth: http://tonjavmoore.dreamwidth.org/16361.html - all chapters are linked.

Fic 2 for this week is The Doctor And Mr Jones by the inimitable sam_storyteller , originally posted February 2008. It's in 5 parts, and Sam promises it's not actually a deathfic - which is comforting to know. I'm sure the reason for that promise will become clear during reading. Despite the title, it is Jack/Ianto, but I gather it's not focussed on the pairing. It does have an R rating though, for some naughtiness.

Summary: The Doctor thought he was alone in the universe -- but Torchwood is about to prove him wrong.

This one's only available on Dreamwidth -
Chapter 1 here: http://sam-storyteller.dreamwidth.org/130482.html and as usual, all chapters are linked.

So that's it for this week - it's up to you whether you read both, just one, or neither, but I'm hoping to manage both.

Happy reading, everyone!
