Drabble: Starless Night

Title: Starless Night

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Ianto, mentions Jack

Rating: G

Spoilers: End Of Days.

Summary: Ianto waits for Jack’s return.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: This one’s for red_day_dawning’s prompt ‘a starless night’.

Lying on the roof of the Millennium Centre, staring at the sky, Ianto watched clouds roll in from the sea. One by one, the stars winked out, eclipsed by the approaching storm as if someone was turning out the lights of heaven.

Soon, there wasn’t a star to be seen; they might have never existed. He wondered if there were worlds out there that had never seen starlight.

As the wind strengthened, howling eerily like the voices of a thousand lost souls, Ianto retreated to the shelter of the stairwell and returned to his vigil, praying Jack would return soon.

The End

This so beautiful and poetic. It must be so hard for Ianto to watch the stars without knowing if Jack is somewhere out there and if he is safe.
I think it would be, but at the same time, he knows Jack is somewhere out there and looking at the stars makes him feel a little closer to the man he misses so much.

Thank you I'm glad you like it!
Poor Ianto he missed Jack more than anyone.

great drabble.
He did, but he didn't fall apart or spend all day depressed and miserable. He kept Torchwood going so it would be there when Jack returned and when time allowed, he kept a vigil, waiting for his lover to return.

Thank you!
Oh, that was lovely and sad.
Thank you!

Ianto doesn't keep vigil every night, but when it's been a rough day, he feels closer to Jack on a rooftop.
Beautiful and sad. Lovely :*)
Thank you, glad you liked it!
It can be read as a poem, for sure.
I can picture Ianto stargazing, looking for his wandering lover ....
If only his eyes could see so far!

Thank you!
He'll be back...
Ianto hasn't given up, just some nights are harder to get through than others.

Thank you!
