Drabble: Support Your Local Dragons

Title: Support Your Local Dragons

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Ianto, Jack

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 328 – National Day or Holiday at tw100

Spoilers: Nada.

Summary: Ianto is in a bad mood; Jack wants to know why.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

Ianto had retreated to the archives as soon as he’d delivered the team’s morning coffees. Puzzled when he didn’t reappear at lunchtime, Jack went down to investigate and found his lover stomping about and muttering under his breath in Welsh as he busied himself with a backlog of filing.

“What’s put you in such a foul mood?”

“It’s April twenty-third,” Ianto replied.

“St. George’s Day.”

“England’s patron saint?”

Ianto nodded curtly.

“And that’s bad because…?”

“Only the English would venerate a dragon slayer!”

“Ah, so you’re being righteously angry on behalf of Welsh dragons?”

“Good work! Carry on!”

The End

Makes perfect sense.
That's what I thought! I might be English, but I don't approve of knights riding around and poking dragons with pointy sticks. It's very bad manners. *nods*

Thank you!
When one has been born under the sign of the dragon in the chinese calendar, one must appreciate the problems of a fellow dragon in his domain. I'm with Ianto; stupid holiday :D
I'm English. Saint George is the patron Saint of my country. I stand beside Ianto in protecting dragons from silly people with pointy sticks!

I'm a tiger, and it shows, for good and bad.

Thank you.
LMAO! Tiger is good!!

Silly people are crunchy and good with chocolate... :D
It's a myth that dragons only eat virgins. They're not very tasty, always under-ripe.
Usually stringy too... prefer a good buffalo steak myself :D I'm beating it out of here to work before I get into trouble :D
LOL! Have a good day!

Insipid and flavourless, virgins! No meat on them.
Ianto doesn't discriminate, he's the champion of all dragons ;)

Thank you!
Of course dragons need to be venerated.

great fic
Down with dragon-slaying knights and up with dragons! the English are idiots for making a saint of a man who killed dragons. (I'm English and I'm on Ianto's side!)

Thank you!
Ianto is right.
Of course he is! I agree with him, even though I'm English.

Thank you!
See, this is why I adore Ianto...he supports the rights of dragons everywhere to live in peace from the dreaded dragon-slayers. He is absolutely correct and I stand with him!

(I found the cutest stuffed red dragon today...of course I'm naming him Arthur!)
Yay for your new dragon!

Ianto if definitely a supporter of Dragon Rights. Knights don't fight fair with their metal armour and pointy sticks! Dragon abuse must not me tolerated.

(I got you a dragon key ring a while back, then realised I didn't know where to send it. sassysailorgirl and zazajb got theirs but yours is still here. Sometimes I just don't think.)
Oh, this is perfect! As an honorary Welsh(wo)man I heartily approve. :)
Thank you! I'm English, but I'm firmly on the side of the dragons. St George should be ashamed of himself!
Makes sense. And GOD, I HATE St. George's Day. Apparently here, it is linked to fireworks. Very noisy fireworks. At the crack of dawn. Ianto would probably go mad too. (He doesn't seem to be a morning person in my headcanon)
Nor in mine, I wrote a drabble about Ianto definitely NOT being a morning person!

I can't say I've noticed fireworks on St George's Day where I am, thankfully.

I'm on Ianto's side, and the side of the dragons. Down with dragon-slayers!

Thank you!

Long live dragons!

Indeed! I believe your average dragon has quite a long lifespan anyway, when people don't go around killing them!

Thank you!
Good for Ianto! Save the Dragons!
Ianto is big on conservation. Dragons are endangered, he won't stand for the kind of persecution they suffered!

Thank you!
Lol :-)
Dragons are to be respected, not persecuted! Ianto has strong feelings on the subject ;)

Thank you!
a true patriot!!
That's our Ianto!

Thank you!
