Drabble: Objections

Title: Objections

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Tosh, Gwen, Jack, Owen, Ianto

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 331 – Worms at tw100

Spoilers: Nada.

Summary: Jack has planned a team outing, but he’s meeting with some resistance.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

“Ugh!” said Tosh, staring at the wriggling tangle of worms. “No way I’m doing that!”

“Me neither,” Gwen agreed. “It’s disgusting!”

“But it’s fun!” whined Jack, looking around at the rest of the team as his carefully laid plans began to crumble.

“I’m in!” said Owen. “A relaxing afternoon is just what the doctor ordered.”

“That’s two for and two against. Ianto, yours is the deciding vote. Yes or no?”

“I think you misunderstood, Jack,” Ianto said. “No one’s objecting to the idea of fishing, just to the use of live worms as bait.”

The girls nodded. “That’s heartless cruelty!”

The End

Well, I'm not too worried about the fish, there's not much chance of the team even getting close to catching anything, but the worms need saving! They'd stand no chance.

Thank you.

Now I have an image of Jack wearing one of those sillly bucket hats with the fishing flys attached. Oh, and dungarees. Priceless!

Knowing Jack, he'd either want to dress that way or he'd wear his coat.

Thank you.
I am afraid I agree with the girls on this, If I fish I only use artificial lures.

great drabble.
I could never poke a hook through a poor, defenceless worm!

Thank you.
Went fishing once...didn't care for it. I don't blame the girls one bit!
Lol! They'll enjoy the relaxation side of things. Sunshine. peace and quiet, no worms!

Thank you!
Peace and quiet? With Jack there? He'll scare all the fish away!
I'm sure Ianto can find a way to keep him quiet ;)
When I was younger I went to stay with my aunt and uncle. They were both keen fishermen. My aunt asked me to go and get some chips or something out of the freezer... and I was rather surprised to come face to face with a tub of frozen worms. Yuck!
I love worms, personally. I'm always rescuing them in the garden whenever possible. Worms are amazing. I wouldn't want frozen worms in the freezer though, that's just cruel.

Thank you.
I'm not a big fan or fishing, either. I always associate sliminess with it.
Well, worms can be slimy but that's never bothered me. Not sure if live fish are slimy, but I don't think so. Frogs are definitely slimy =)

Thank you.
