Drabble: Janet Meets George

Title: Janet Meets George

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Janet, George the Suit.

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 348: Weevil at tw100

Spoilers: Nada.

Summary: Janet is used to being fed by Ianto, but today someone else has taken over the job.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: Someone once requested Janet’s reaction to George, but I forget who. Still, as I’ve been asked for more George, and the prompt is Weevil, it seemed a good time to try it!

Janet sniffed the air; it was time, he was bringing food. That was good, there was always food here; life was easy and comfortable.

Footsteps approached, a figure appeared. Janet cocked her head on one side. That wasn’t the one who usually brought food, or one of the others either.

She sniffed again, smelling food but not man. This one looked something like the food man, but where the man’s head always was, there was nothing. She made a questioning sound, watching him set the food inside her room.

This place was strange; you never knew what you’d see next.

The End

Yes *laughs* bless Janet she must have been very shocked to find that the food man this time around was in fact a suit with no man hahaha
She finds George puzzling but quite soothing. Weevils are mildly empathic, so she gets no disturbing emotions from an empty suit, lol!

Thank you!
I think it would be quite amusing hahaha :P Bless Janet
Janet's not complaining, she feels quite privileged to be treated so well, regular meals, interesting people... She's learning a lot!
She must have a lot of fun, learning away. She is indeed! :D I must say there are a lot of interesting people around there haha
She's one lucky Weevil! The humans could have picked any Weevil, but they picked her. She won the Weevil lottery.
"This place was strange; you never knew what you’d see next." -this coming from a weevil, LOL!
I think Janet quite likes living in Torchwood, it's very entertaining and she gets to study humans, who are seriously peculiar. ;)

Thank you!
I love Janets reaction to George.

great drabble.
She's puzzled but unworried, I think she and George will get along ;)

Thank you!
I would not have expected a different reaction. She is quite civilized by now and George is a true gentleman, or suit.
Lovely
Thank you!

Yes, I think Janet and George will get along well, though Janet will still enjoy visits from the human members of the team.
LOL! What a strange pair. An animated fine suit without a person inside it, and an orange boiler suit-wearing alien. Only in Torchwood! :-p

I'm happy to hear that Janet is enjoying her stay. It seems like she's treating it more like a vacation than a prison. That's looking on the bright side!

It's probably the first time she's not had to work for a living or scavenge to survive (I think Weevils are cheap slave labour wherever they come from, hence the boiler suits, which seem to be greyish or brownish rather than orange, judging from my action figure Weevils). For Janet, it's the easy life, and she's learning about people. Perhaps she can influence the rest of the Weevil population telepathically, teach them not to attack humans, so the two species can live in peace.

Janet finds George's company very relaxing, he has no thoughts or emotions for her to pick up.

Thank you!
That's an interesting theory about them being used as slave labor on their planet! That would make the boiler suit a uniform, and would explain why they're all dressed alike. It makes sense. It always seemed odd to me that they were even clothed at all, given that they seem to be about on par with a great ape, who, of course, have no need for clothing. Of course, we don't know what goes on in their minds or how self-aware they really are. That's why Torchwood needs to study them more, I guess!

And you are correct--their boiler suits are more of a drab brown or grey color. I was misremembering them as the prison jumpsuits we have in this country, which are a bright orange!

Easy mistake to make. Maybe the Weevils are prisoners on their world, we just don't know. Having them be slaves makes certain things make sense, such as their clothing. Maybe they're not used to looking after themselves, so finding food is difficult and when they become desperate they attack people. I don't know, I'm just making things up as I go along o_O
These are all great ideas! Have you explored any of them in writing? If not, you should! :)
I probably should, but I'm up to my neck in WiPs and writing challenges. Maybe I could leave myself some prompts on fic_promptly, which ideas should I go for?
Too true - very strange indeed!
But always interesting!

Thank you!
Heehee, that was a hoot! :D
Janet and George will get along just fine!

Thank you!
