Drabble: One Rock At A Time

Title: One Rock At A Time

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Ianto

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 253 – Moving Mountains at tw100

Warnings/Spoilers: None

Summary: Ianto faces a monumental task

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood – or Ianto.

Ianto stared in horrified fascination. The Torchwood Three archives were a disaster area. In fact ‘archives’ was something of a misnomer.

Paper files were stuffed untidily in dozens of metal filing cabinets, packed so tightly they might burst, while alien artefacts and rift debris had been crammed on shelves until they were full, then piled on the floor wherever there was room.

A lesser man would have despaired, but Ianto Jones was made of sterner stuff.

How do you move a mountain? One rock at a time.

He took off his jacket, rolled up his sleeves and set to work.

The End

You pictured Ianto so well that I can really see him! ummm what nice arms he had ;)

beautiful, J!!!!
And hands! Don't forget the hands ;)

Thank you *hugs* I'm really pleased with this one. I didn't like the prompt at first, I couldn't think of anything for it until this idea popped into my head.
Poor Ianto, facing that mess...but then yes, he is a lot stronger than he might look.

That was great. :)
Not only stronger, but more tenacious, organised and determined to sort out the mess!

Thank you, I though I'd have to skip this week as the prompt didn't feel very inspiring, but I got an idea and it worked. I'm rather pleased with it as it's a step away from my usual funny, silly stuff.
Poor poor Ianto. He can get lost under all that junk there.
He will prevail! The Ninja Butler Archivist will rout disorder and make the archives worthy of their name.

There is a lot of junk, easily enough to get buried under, but he'll be careful.

Thank you =)
Great use of the prompt!
Thank you! I really didn't think I'd be able to come up with anything for this prompt, but once I had the last couple of lines, the rest just wrote itself.
Go Ianto! After years of neglect those archives must be a horrific sight indeed. Jack may have hired him for his coffee (and his arse) but he's going to keep him for his tenacity and fierce organizational skills! (And his arse.)
Lol! So true =)

I didn't think I'd get anything for this prompt, but it practically wrote itself.

Thank you.
Wow. Another drabble!
There's no stopping you now is there?
Very well done. Its different from your usual stuff but it works really well :-)

Can I join Jack in watching the CCTV as Ianto works with his sleeves rolled up?
Pull up a comfy chair, I'm already there, lol!

I thought I'd have to give this one a miss, but I thought about the prompt while I was out, and got an idea. I'm rather pleased because it IS different from my usual style. I didn't want ALL my drabbles to be silly or funny, I wanted to try other genres and this one just sort of happened.
Ianto wouldn't be Ianto if he didn't want to organise everything and tidy up. Wish I could borrow him - he'd soon tidy this house up!
That's him, that's our Ianto!!!
Well done, J, loved it!!!
Hugs and kissitos!!!
*hugs back* Thank you, Ani =)

Ianto likes things organised, he would never be able to leave the archives in such a mess!
poor ianto, what a task! but one rock at a time will get you ther, even if you're not sane by the end
great drabble
Thank you.

Yes, Ianto knows the best way to tackle such a huge task is to deal with it a bit at a time, he is undaunted and by the time he's finished everything will be in the correct place - as long as no one else tries to file things!
That was great! You go Ianto!
Thank you! It's a huge task, but Ianto will succeed.
That's Ianto for you always quietly determined. Lovely stuff which sums him up.
Thank you! When I finally got an idea for the prompt, it turned into a bit of a character study. Ianto's always struck me as someone who just gets on with whatever needs doing, no matter how big the task he remains undaunted.
You've got Ianto to a T! ;)
Thank you =D

That's just the way I've always seen him. He is undaunted by seemingly impossible tasks. I wish I could be more like him!
definitley Ianto this, great drabble.
Thank you, I'm glad you think so!

I've always though Ianto would just get on with things that need doing, no matter how big the job seemed - he doesn't seem to be put off by things that would seem impossible to other people once he's decided something has to be done.
Ianto is no shirker. He'll do whatever is called for and that is we already know is anything at all.
Exactly what I was trying to convey! Thank you =)

It's just who Ianto is - he did whatever was necessary to get Lisa to Cardiff and take care of her, which must have seemed an insurmountable task, but when he sets his mind to doing something he does it. He couldn't save Lisa, that was impossible in the end, but everything that was needed to transport and care for her, he figured out and got it done. The archives were just another task to complete.
You're in for a long job Ianto! Best of luck!

Great drabble. I can hear Ianto sighing.
Thank you, I was quite pleased with this one.

Ianto knows the best way to tackle a huge job is to focus on a small area at a time. However long it takes, he'll get there!
