Drabble: Unwanted

Title: Unwanted

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Jack, the Doctor.

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 365: Rejected at tw100

Spoilers: End Of Days, Doctor Who Utopia/The Sound of Drums.

Summary: Jack’s not wanted on board the TARDIS.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

At the sound of the TARDIS, Jack was full of hope. After more than a century, his long wait was finally over, he could get back out among the stars with Rose and his Doctor, shake the dust of earth from his feet, be free again. No more responsibility of leadership, sending good people into danger, he’d be a follower once more, a role he felt far more suited for.

But the TARDIS tried to run from him, Rose was gone, and the Doctor, in a new and unrecognisable incarnation, rejected him for being ‘wrong’.

He no longer belonged there.

The End

You belong with Ianto now, Jack.
He does, and he's a lot better off because Ianto accepts him for everything he is.

Thank you!

Jack failed to realise that he was already exactly where he belonged.

He'd just been waiting so long for the Doctor that he didn't realise he'd already found something much better.

Thank you.
At least it showed Jack where he really belonged.

great drabble.
Yeah that's a good point! Jack has no doubt now that he belongs with Ianto.

Thank you!

Yeah, that exit from the Game Station without him was no accident.
Yeah, and wasn't it a blow to Jack when he found that out? Knowing he'd been deliberately abandoned among the corpses... He trusted the Doctor and his trust was betrayed, but he didn't find out for over 100 years!

Thank you!
Guess he needed this kind of slap in the face to realize what was really important in his life (aka a certain Welshman in great suits). Painful, but necessary. Great job!
Thank you!

Yes, it hurt Jack, but it cleared away the old to make room for the new. Things were better with Ianto after that.
"Give the gift of your absence to those who don't appreciate your presence" You are far better with your loyal Welshman!
That's a good saying, Jack should take it to heart!

Thank you.

A very sad time for Jack.
But this will allow him to discover / realize his feelings for Ianto. The best thing that could happen to him !!!!
Jack can focus on what he's got now instead of dreaming of what he used to have.

Thank you!
