Drabble: New Perspective

Title: New Perspective

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Ianto, Jack, Tosh, Owen, Gwen

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 368: Episode Tag at tw100

Spoilers: Countrycide.

Summary: Almost dying has made Ianto see things more clearly.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

Ianto’s silent all the way back from the Beacons. He stares out the SUVs window, but doesn’t see anything, too deep in thought.

Back at the Hub, Owen treats everyone’s injuries; Jack tells his team to go home, rest for a few days, take time to heal. He’ll deal
with anything that comes up.

Gwen gets a ride from Owen, Tosh waits for Ianto, but there’s something he needs to say to Jack first.

“After Lisa, I thought I wanted to die. Now I know I want to live. Thanks for saving us.”

Jack accepts the peace offering.

“You’re welcome.”

The End

Comments

I always wished they had showed something like this on the show, but instead they focused on Gwen cheating on Rhys with Owen and blaming Torchwood for it. I like this MUCH better!
Thank you!

Yeah, way to show the worst side of Gwen. It wasn't even like she suffered the worst. She cop peppered with buckshot, a relatively superficial injury from the way she behaved later. Ianto got the crap beaten out of him.

Thank you!

Poor Ianto's had a bad day of it from start to finish. Who could blame him? At least now they can start mending some bridges.

It was a rough way to learn that he wants to survive, but it's one positive thing from a dreadful experience.

Thank you!
I think that was the scariest of all the Torchwood episodes.

Love this I wish this had been in the series right at the end of the episode.
Thank you!

It was a really creepy episode, but the writers missed a lot of opportunities with any character who wasn't Gwen.
This would have been the perfect ending for the episode. So simple and yet so meaningful. It somehow heralds the famous 'stopwatch scene'.
Which I wrote for my next drabble for the challenge, lol!

Yes, it would have been much better than showing Gwen's adultery.

Thank you!
Why didn't the author offer us something like this? I so believe that Ianto could have done that and finally accepted to move forward.
Thank you!

Yes, it's a scene that was needed.
