Drabble: Bad Timing

Title: Bad Timing

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Jack, Ianto, Owen, Gwen.

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 370: Old Age at tw100

Spoilers: Nada.

Summary: Alien technology doesn’t always cause problems at convenient moments.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

Torchwood’s latest brush with alien technology had resulted in Owen and Gwen being de-aged. It was unfortunate timing as Tosh was in Japan visiting her family.

“Look, we’ve seen things like this before,” Jack told them. “Tosh always makes comprehensive notes on all technology she studies. You’ve got nothing to worry about, I’ll soon have you both back to normal.”

Famous last words.

An hour later, Jack had managed to reverse the de-aging, resulting in two of his agents becoming old age pensioners somewhat prematurely.

“Oh well. At least they’re not kids anymore,” Ianto sighed. “Back to the drawing board.”

The End

I wish RTD had used this story line instead of aging Martha when she came to visit Jack.
It could've been a lot of fun!

I always maintain that fan writers have better imaginations than TV writers, and of course we're not constrained by budgets and technology.

Thank you!
They have Martha go on Torchwood and that's what RTD decides to do with Freema?. I wonder how long she had to be in the makeup chair for?. However, I did like that Martha and Jack got to talk and see each other again.
Oops! Another day at Torchwood... LOL
Owen is a VERY grumpy old man, and Gwen is no better except that she naps a lot, lol!

Thank you!
OMG! Can you imagine how grumpy they could be? LOL
Oh yeah, Owen is a very grumpy old man. Gwen hasn't changed much, she just keeps dozing off, lol!

Thank you!

Oops. Awkward.

Yeah, now he REALLY has to be careful or he could accidentally age them to death!

Thank you!
Lol that would have made a great episode hee hee.
I agree! I would've loved to see Owen as a grumpy old man.

Thank you!
I've maintained since the 60s - age warning - that the reason fan writers come up with better ideas than the professionals is that they actually love the characters and want the best for them
Having been around since the early sixties myself, I agree with you. The characters are our passion, but for the writers, they're just part of their job.

Thank you!
Thank you!
