Drabble: Laying Ghosts To Rest

Title: Laying Ghosts To Rest

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Owen

Rating: PG

Written For: Challenge 258 – Ghost of a chance at tw100

Spoilers: For Ghost Machine

Summary: Owen couldn’t let it go.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: This has been the toughest prompt to date for me, it’s taken me all week to come up with one drabble. At least I got there in the end!

Realistically, Owen knew there was little hope of solving the crime after so many years. Lizzie’s murder was long forgotten by anyone except her family and friends.

He’d felt it all though, her terror, her pain. Her death. He couldn’t let go, couldn’t forget, he needed to do… something!

The very least she deserved was for the truth to come out, even if he couldn’t bring her justice.

He had a name, Ed Morgan. That was a start. Maybe the bastard still lived.

It was the slimmest of chances, but even the ghost of a chance was better than none.

Oh well done!!!
Thank you! It's taken me all week to get an idea. Is it just me or was this prompt harder than usual? I'd almost given up hope.
I do think its hard because there isn't a lot of flexibility in interpreting it.

I just got an idea for mine that I'm working on. Not a genius one, but I can make it work.
Good luck with it!

On the face of it, the prompt should have seemed easy - there are a lot of Torchwood episodes where something or someone has a very slim chance of succeeding with something or other - but actually making a drabble out of it... I'm hoping for a one-word prompt next week, they're easier to interpret!

I just might have a silly little idea I can turn into one of my not-canon based fun drabbles with a Halloween feel, just have to see if it will work.
Thank you! Ghost Machine was one of Owen's best moments in season one, he really showed the caring heart he hides under his cynical exterior.
Ooh I love it!
I hadn't even considered this episode for the prompt but you made it fit so well!
Thank you!

I couldn't come up with anything, so I went and looked at the list of episodes and Ghost Machine jumped out at me - it's a good thing too, as none of the others did!

Did you get my email about the cookies? Wonderful =D
Loved it! and the waiting was worthy
Thank you, I'm glad! I was really starting to think I wouldn't get one eritten this week!

How is your writing going?
I was sure you would!

4,424 words!!!!
Wow! Well done! *\0/*

I think I might post another one on Sunday...
YAY! will be waiting for it!
Great job! It really was interesting how cynical, cranky Owen seized hold of this case and wouldn't let it it go, and you've shed some light as to why.

Guess what ep I was going to do this week! Yep, this one. But I only got as far as the first line before I got stuck. You've done a much better job! :)
Thank you, glad you liked it.

I spent four days trying to come up with an idea and I got nowhere until I looked at an episode guide. The only episode I thought I could do something with was this one. Sorry to pinch your idea - I always seem to be pinching someone's. =P

I actually have another one I plan to post tomorrow, one of my dafter, non-episode ones. I had to re-write it though because the first draft seemed a bit insensitive considering Hurricane Sandy.
I look forward to reading the next one. :)
I just posted it - I apologize in advance...
Great little moment in time.
Thank you, glad you like it!

(Love your icon, it's hypnotic!)
Wonderful use of that prompt.
Thank you so much! =D
