Drabble: Surrogate Mum

Title: Surrogate Mum

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Ianto, Jack, new mother.

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 395: Mother at tw100

Spoilers: Nada.

Summary: Torchwood brings an abandoned baby and a loving mother together.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

“Motherhood suits her,” Ianto said with a smile. “I’ve never seen her look more contented.”

“I know what you mean,” Jack agreed. “It’s surprising though, she never really struck me as the maternal type. Not until now, anyway.

“You can never really tell what someone’s capable of until they’re tested. She did rather get thrown in at the deep end, but she’s taken to it like a duck to water.”

Although it wasn’t her baby, she’d accepted the foundling without hesitation. Now she showed him off like any proud mother.

“Yes, Janet, he’s a beautiful baby Weevil,” Ianto assured her.

The End

Comments

Weevils are sadly misunderstood creatures. I'm sure that if they hadn't been mistreated on their homeworld and have bad run ins with people on earth, they'd be happy to live in peace with their young.

I'm not sure, I think Weevils are misunderstood in some cases, but the rogues who attack, kill and eat people are a real threat to humanity. Most of them stay in the sewers though, that's why Torchwood doesn't eradicate them.

Thank you.
This was adorable.
Thank you! Janet is a very happy and proud surrogate mum!

This should be good for Janet to have someone she can handle.
A young weevil, and more!
But the Hub cells are not the best place for a mother and her son
I'm sure Torchwood will move them to more suitable accommodations. Janet will be a good mother.

Thank you!
awwww I am sure she will give him her best!
This baby might be the first completely tame Weevil ever! Janet will be an excellent mum.

Thank you!
