Drabble: A Long Wait

Title: A Long Wait

Author: badly_knitted

Characters: Jack.

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 400: Milestone at tw100

Spoilers: Fragments.

Summary: There’s a long road ahead of Jack, waiting for his answers.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

New Year’s day of the year 1900 was just the first in an endless series of milestones Jack knew he must pass before finally encountering the Doctor again. The Tarot girl had told him that meeting would not come about until the century had turned twice, and the road ahead of him seemed to stretch out interminably. A hundred years is an awfully long time when you can’t just skip over the boring bits.

Nevertheless, he didn’t have a choice. If he was to get the answers he needed, he’d have to wait, crossing off the years as they passed.

The End

Oh, wouldn't it be nice to be able to skip over the dull bits? At least Jack has plenty of time on his side.
I don't have a lot of dull bits. but skipping over the unpleasant parts would be great =)

I think Jack sometimes wishes he didn't have so much time. The rest of eternity is literally forever

Thank you.

In the meantime, he'll learn that there's more to those years in between than just ticking them off.

He will, but he'll also learn how hard it is to love and lose over and over. Te waiting won't be easy.

Thank you!
Jack had a long and not very pleasant wait.

Great drabble.
It must have seemed like it would never end, and yet when it did finally end, it didn't solve anything.

Thank you.
Hopefully he could also avoid some dangerous bits, though deadly ones wouldn't be permanent (like the wars, Spanish Flu etc.)
I don't think he ended ujp having that option, all he could do was life through the century of so taking things as they came. Poor Jack =(

Thank you!
Jack thanks you.
